PROJECTS UNDER BIAB:

A.  Blessings in a Bag
B.  1kg Movement
C.  Clothing for Change
D.  AnimaLife (in collaboration with SPCA)
For Blessings in a Bag - we collect new and used items (see WISHLIST page for
details) to send to child orphanages within the Asia region - so far we're
supporting TWO- one in the Philippines and one in Thailand but we hope to
expand it to many more orphanages.  We'll be selling items as well on the site
from communities in Asia who are trying to make a living through sustainable
and creative means (Eg, weaving, sewing, etc). So watch out for upcoming
news and updates about it!  We
send a shipment of donations over to the
orphanages
but on top of that we are asking people to participate in our
1kg movement. (See Below for details)
1KG MOVEMENT - this is where people in Singapore or Australia can come and
collect donations from our centre/storage facility.  In Singapore we will be
giving out donations from Serene centre for travellers, tourists or generally
anyone who will be flying over to either the Philippines or Thailand - at this
point it will just be the Philippines. We have organised with the orphanage to
set up a range of
pick up points where people can drop off their donations
at specified points so that they can participate in doing something
good and perhaps even want to go to the orphanage and help out.

We will be issuing cotton bags (with designs by
YOU- see clothing for change
below) to
reduce plastic bag wastage where travellers can either take it
back home with them or they can leave it there where the orphanage can
give them out to the poor communities surrounding them - or travellers can
participate in the 1kg movement again and fly the bags back over here for
more people to reuse again.  In this way we
cut fuel used, reduce our carbon
footprint and encourage recycling together with volunteerism.

To
take part in this movement please email arbella@blessingsinabag.com or

CLOTHING FOR CHANGE - everyone and anyone
can submit designs to us and we'll upload it onto
the web  (we're still working on its new home!)
where everyone else can view your works of art
and
vote for the one they like best!  Most popular
design will get printed onto
organic cotton tees,
bags and other items.
 Designs will be scouted for
the one kg movement bags as well!  Every item
sold will help fund all the BIAB projects as well as
help the lives of many across Asia.

1. All you have to do is to design something that
could be printed onto a t-shirt or a bag. The only
theme is to just go crazy and have fun being
creative.

2. It HAS to have the Clothing for Change logo
or have the words "Clothing for Change"
somewhere in your design that is visible.

3. Submit your designs to:
blessingsinabag@gmail.com along with your
details, name of design, and a brief description.
AnimaLife.
This is in collaboration with the SPCA www.spca.org.sg to
help
reduce the number of animals being put to sleep
due to lack of resources and space. We will be helping to
re-home animals that people want to give to the SPCA
and to help the animals who are at the shelter find good
homes. We hope to provide plenty of animal resources as
well to ensure that Singaporeans will begin to
adopt a
more responsible approach in caring for their pets.

NEW!
NEW!
We're hosting a flea market that's happening every last
Sunday of the month.
Our first one will start on the 28th of
September from 12pm till 5pm at Serene Centre!
 It will be
the first flea market to be geared towards being
eco-friendly - all about real causes and real people.  We're
not charging any rental for the stalls either BUT we ask
that all stall vendors bring their own tables and chairs - or
make their own
stalls out of recycled materials.  We will
also encourage the use of public transportation, walking
or riding a bike to the market.
 Each month will have a
different theme
and YOU get to decide and have your
say on what happens.  Half the stalls will follow the theme
with the other half being 'anything goes'!  For more
updates and news check out the FACEBOOK and
WTF.MKT blog!  Email:
admin@blessingsinabag.com if
you're interested to take part!
